{"id":821,"date":"2020-03-27T18:33:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T18:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/?p=821"},"modified":"2020-04-01T13:53:39","modified_gmt":"2020-04-01T13:53:39","slug":"covid-19-relief-package-by-the-rbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/covid-19-relief-package-by-the-rbi\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Relief Package by the RBI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus-pic-ap-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-823\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus-pic-ap-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus-pic-ap-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus-pic-ap-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ventureasy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/virus-pic-ap.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The Reserve Bank of India announced measures to mitigate the burden of debt servicing brought about by disruptions on account of COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the continuity of viable businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are some of the measures provided by the Reserve Bank of India.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Moratorium\nof three months<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In respect of all term loans,&nbsp; all commercial banks (including regional\nrural banks, small finance banks and local area banks), co-operative banks,\nall-India Financial Institutions, and NBFCs (including housing finance\ncompanies) (\u201clending institutions\u201d) are permitted to grant a moratorium of\nthree months on payment of all installments&nbsp;falling due between March 1,\n2020 and May 31, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The repayment schedule for such\nloans as also the residual tenor will be shifted across the board by three\nmonths after the moratorium period. Interest shall continue to accrue on the\noutstanding portion of the term loans during the moratorium period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deferement\nof Interest in respect to working capital requirement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In respect of working capital\nfacilities sanctioned in the form of cash credit\/overdraft , lending\ninstitutions are permitted to defer the recovery of interest applied in respect\nof all such facilities during the period from March 1, 2020 upto May 31, 2020\n.The accumulated accrued interest shall be recovered immediately after the\ncompletion of this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Easing of\nWorking Capital Financing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lending institutions may\nrecalculate the \u2018drawing power\u2019 by reducing the margins and\/or by reassessing\nthe working capital cycle. This relief shall be available in respect of all such\nchanges effected up to May 31, 2020 and shall be contingent on the lending\ninstitutions satisfying themselves that the same is necessitated on account of\nthe economic fallout from COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, accounts provided relief\nunder these instructions shall be subject to subsequent supervisory review with\nregard to their justifiability on the same grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instructions provided by\nReserve Bank of India will come into force with immediate effect.
